Very sad to see this happening to the poor, malnourished and oppressed people of Myanmar. The government can't help them, won't help them and I am sure that even international aid will be controlled. It will take years to rehabilitate those affected by this cyclone.

Miraculously Bangladesh escaped this time. It has become so common to hear about such catastrophes happening in Bangladesh and south east India. Whatever, this is extremely sad and painful to see. There is no early warning system in Burma. Having said that when we see what happened during Hurricane Katrina in the USA, it would be to much to expect countries like Burma to have sophisticated warning systems.

At least 25000 people must have died if not more. If you see the television footage it looks as devastating as the Tsunami. Remember, the cyclone hit deep inside Myanmar and not just the coastal regions like the Tsunami did.

Yea Salil, it has already crossed the 10,000 mark . Its really sad that natural calamities play the toughest of enemy for any nation, whether weak or strong.
