The murder of 15-year-old British tourist Scarlett Keeling has inspired a Bollywood director to make “Rave Party” — a film exposing the drug scene in India’s tropical holiday hotspot Goa. “Rave Party is based on what...

Another publicity stunt by a Bollywood player to hog the limelight in the media. Who has heard about his earlier venture ” Kahani Gudiya ki” but the obliging press readily accepted the latest story of this ’film producer’ to make a film on the ill-fated and ill-parented teenager British tourist Scarlett Keeling.

With the title as mentioned "Rave Party"...i am already looking ahead to see if the Indian film director will be able to the justice the almost hidden subject to the wider Indian audience. if this gets exposed by the movie director...i can already see protests in GOA.

I second your opinion, you have pointed out a very nice thing. In fact, these non-cred directors/producers are always on the lookout for sensational issues or headlines to guarantee a good opening for their projects, which generally try to encash the sensationalism surrounding that topic rather than dealing with the problem or exposing the truth.

@ Lalit

I share my sentiments with you, but I don’t think this ’Rave Party’ will go any further than just presenting some raunchy scenes threaded by a loose narrative. We have seen so many top issues totally being wasted by Indian film makers that its really hard to place a bet on anyone.

Of course, there are masters like Mahesh Bhatt and Mira Nair who are blessed with the combination of talent + guts, but then again, those genuine ones are massively outnumbered by these B+ wannabe maestros.

Anyway, lets hope this ’Rave Party’ is something more than a combo-pack of Flesh+Drugs.

count on bollywood to sieze every opportunity to make a movie. however, this is probably a good subject for a movie, provided it is properly executed.

I have seen this movie in which Hansika was there when she was a kiddo. She was raped in a local train and the story centered around the same. IT was a true story. All it got was some criticizing comments. The movie was vulgar. I really do not know how to react to this one as this is no way to make people aware of something which is burning with anguish. I think the director needs some fast cash and hence his venture. A really heartless approach to the issue.

Totally agree with you Mayuri. In fact, there is so much to be done about such issues but, unfortunately, the only thing that gets materialized is a B grade movie. The only impression that comes to mind after such announcements (of a film to be made on a burning issue) are made is that these vultures are ready for easy prey to fill their (money) hungry stomachs.

There have been instances where news have been burnt into agony and then washed down with cold water. Now Scarlett’s case is the finest example. Look at the hype created and now nobody cares. We need a solid reality check on this ground.
